Vision School is a cooperative partnership with
the Student Affairs Office of the Providence School Department.
Placement in Vision School is for students who have difficulty adjusting
to a community school for a variety of reasons.
Whitmarsh Corporation has developed an alternative
educational setting for these students who require a period of adjustment
and are in need of close supervision. Vision School is a safe haven
for students who are residents of the Whitmarsh program and the
Whitmarsh shelter.
Vision School offers a curriculum based on Providence
School Department including courses at both middle and high school
level. Students are scheduled according to course work completed
at previous schools by the school director. Vision elective courses
include but are not limited to introduction to computers, art, and
travel & tourism. It is in these courses that Project Vision
students are first "mainstreamed.

Project Vision
Project Vision is a cooperative program between Whitmarsh Corporation
and the Providence School Department Special Education Office. Students
placed in this program are Whitmarsh residents with Individual Educational
Plans (IEP) that call for small alternative school placements.
Project Vision offers resident students a course of study based on Providence School Department middle school and high school curriculiums with accomodations made for individual learning styles.
The present contract calls for ten residents who require self-contained alternative school settings. The main goal of Project Vision is to integrate these students to mainstream classes first within Vision School and ultimately into community schools.
Whitmarsh residents range in age from 12 to 18; therefore, Project Vision students are in grades 6 to 12. These students take 3 or more courses in a self-contained classroom with a certified special education teacher.
To complete their course work, health/physical education, and other elective courses are taken with Vision School. These elective courses, with Vision School students, are a first step to returning to a placement within a community school.
